What is Performance Newspaper Advertising?

Performance newspaper advertising is a type of pay-for-performance print advertising in which brands pay for ads placed in offline and online editions of newspapers on a cost-per-response basis.

Advertisers have traditionally paid for newspaper ads on a CPM (cost-per-thousand) or flat-rate basis. Performance newspaper advertising creates a payment structure in which the news media is compensated differently.

What types of pay-for-performance actions can be measured in newspapers?

Pay-Per-Call Newspaper Advertising: Each ad has a unique phone # placed in it to track all inbound call activity. Time/Day, Call Duration and more are tracked.

Pay-Per-Lead Newspaper Advertising: Each print ad has a unique QR code or URL in it that sends traffic to an advertiser’s landing page. Newspapers are compensated for each qualified lead they drive.

CPA Newspaper Advertising: Brands can use unique phone numbers, QR codes, promo codes and URLs to track response to newspaper ads; billing is based either on a revshare % or flat rate.
